With cooler weather comes the realization that none of the clothes from last fall fit my children this season. It will soon be time for a new wardrobe, but there are a few budget friendly ways to stretch their summer favorites.
Rather than purchasing all new outfits, pick up a few pieces that coordinate with their current favorites. My daughter’s favorite tank tops and cami-style shirts add great color to a white buttoned shirt or cardigan. Summer sundresses can be warmed up with a sweater, jacket or wrap. Much loved t-shirts can be worn over long sleeve shirts or under a half-zipped hoodie.
The only thing you’ll probably need soon is long pants. They are well stocked at the moment, and if you can hold off for just a few more weeks we’ll start to see clearance prices. While colored denim is very popular this year, I plan to stick with basics that will match more of their clothing and have a chance at outlasting the fad.
The advantage is not only saving money on clothing, but allowing your children to keep their favorite items in circulation just a little bit longer.

The inbetween seasons are very hard. We know how to dress in winter and summer, but spring and fall are tricky. I think your ideas make perfect sense and work on children or adults! I know I bought afew cardigans to go over tank tops and t shirts and plan on changing up dresses and adding boots to carry them over into this season! definitely a $$ saver!
I forgot to include one of our funniest tips! My daughter’s jeans from last year still fit in the waist, but look like high waters. We just cuff them into capris for the fall. It looks cute and costs nothing!
