Cable and satellite television can be expensive and there aren’t many ways around it either. But, can we just put that aside for one minute?
If you already have cable or satellite television, adding a dvr can save you money in the long run. Seriously.
Being a full-time mom, wife, homemaker extraordinaire (ha!), I do not have much “free time”, “me time”, “sane time” in a day. The couple of hours a night I might have for myself and/or my husband is so precious. So, when I do actually sit down and turn the tv on, I want to watch quality programming.
But sometimes even that quality time is interrupted by outside influences (like the kids) or that major important call that can’t wait! The dvr can solve all those problems, because ou are now watching television on your schedule, not on someone elses!
And that is not all. There’s pay-per-view movies that can be purchased for a decent price or movie channel series available ANYTIME YOU WANT. (Including all the deleted scenes you forgot ever existed!)
I feel like Miranda on Sex & the City and her love for her Tivo. I feel the love. I truly do. Only in my instance, I pay only $10 a month and I can give it back whenever I’m done with it. But, we all know, or at least I know that will never happen in my house. Not on my watch….
Anyone else a dvr lover like moi?

I could not love my DVR more. It is the best invention EVAH!!
I absolutely LOVE my DVR and I’m convinced it saves me money. We wait until there are free premium channel weekends and then load up our DVR. We haven’t rented a movie in almost two years!
I just heard recently that TIVO is starting to offer coupons through its service.
Check out my thoughts on the DVR and the TIVO news here:

I’ve been tempted, but haven’t taken the plunge yet. I’m just now playing around with Netflix, and really enjoying the watch online option (have a cable on the way to hopefully tie my laptop into my big TV to really make the movies more watchable). I may take the DVR plunge in the next couple of months, when winter opens up more quality viewing time.
Of course, if the economy keeps tanking, I may be devolving back to radio, hehe.
We wanted to get the HD channels on our new TV and the DVR was part of the package and we fell in love with that little box very fast. At any giving time we have several of our favorite TV shows taped for future viewing. Example, I fell asleep on the couch last night before my SciFi shows came one, but they are waiting there for me on the DVR. Take the plunge … you’ll love it!
I am in the “Love My Dvr” Club too!! I refuse to watch live tv…I even record the news…then I can skip most of the depressing topics…which unfortunately are most of them
I really have not seen a commercial in months and my 4 year old has never been influenced by commercials…it is wonderful….better than the internet…well almost
