I never thought that frugal would be a word that would consistently show up in my vocabulary. But, now that it has I don’t want it to disappear, from any aspect of my life.
I decided to leave the work force almost 5 years ago. We knew it would be a stretch, but we also knew it could work. However, we constantly said that if we couldn’t do it on just my husband’s income, I could always go back to work. no big deal, right?
I don’t think I could find a job outside of the home now to save my life. Thankfully, we’ve adjusted to just my husband’s income by being frugal.
Here are the Top 6 Reasons to Lead a Frugal Lifestyle
- Peace of mind. Knowing that we can cut corners to make it on less, definitely lessens the stress level.
- No need to throw our hard earned money away. Do you like to throw your money out the window? Spending more on something that you can easily get for less is just the same as throwing your money away.
- It’s Green. In most cases, the frugal lifestyle has less waste. Making your own products yields less of those pesky plastic containers that you later have to find a way to dispose of.
- Health Benefits. Not only is it a stress reliever to be frugal, but making your own food is healthier than buying the processed counterparts. This way you know exactly what is in it, and where it came from.
- Enjoyment. We have been able to enjoy life more than ever before with our new found frugal life. We no longer have all the extra baggage from keeping up with the “Jones”. It’s quite freeing!
- Appreciation. We appreciate everything we have much more. Either we have taken the time to make it, or we have saved up to purchase it. Being invested in what we have gives you new found appreciation.
Beginning the frugal journey takes a little extra time, and planning, but once you get started you’ll never look back.

Well said. May I add one? By being frugal you get to be the “main thing!” to your children! Love that.
