Are we there yet?
Restless kids. Stressed parents. Mid-summer can be the point where a lot of families hit a wall. You’ve done all there is to do. Twice.
This is a common problem among any family with school-age children; but for families with children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), the issues can be ten-fold. Major meltdowns, sleep problems, emerging behaviors that are hard to control. Not engaging a child on the spectrum can mean big consequences that take a lot of time and effort to reverse.
Dr. Bill Frea, co-founder of Autism Spectrum Therapies, has created a tip sheet to provide parents of ASD kids with ideas and help them continue to provide activities to bridge the gap between summer boredom and the routine of school time.
Check back here at Special Needs Bliss on a regular basis to find more of Dr. Frea’s helpful and timely tip sheets for families of children on the autism spectrum.
