My nutritionist friends always told me that fruit roll-ups were not a substitute for fruit and that they contained a lot of sugar and other unhealthy preservatives (like that ubiquitous high fructose corn syrup). That is true for traditional rolled up, pressed and processed fruit snacks available in an array of colors, flavors and gimmicks. But it’s not true for Stretch Island Fruit Co.’s FruitaBü Rolls.
“Stretch Island Fruit Co.’s FruitaBü Rolls, an all-natural fruit snack that lets kids unwrap and unroll positive fruit nutrition in three lip-smacking flavors. Each roll provides one whole serving of fruit and are made using only the sugars found naturally in fresh fruit. The rolls are tightly rolled and individually packaged in a colorful wrapper so that the goodness of apples, grapes or strawberries will never brown or bruise in a lunch box. This tasty snack will liven up recess and lunchtime throughout the school year.”
Available in apple, strawberry and grape, these are fruit snacks that you can feel good about giving your children. They taste great (not too sweet, not too tart) and are fun for kids to eat. Both my 10 year old and my 5 year old were impressed with their flavor. And as their mother, I was impressed with the fact that there is no added sugar, and especially glad to note the absence of high fructose corn syrup.
Nothing is truly a substitute for fresh fruit but it is helpful to have something that I can toss into my purse or pool bag or my kid’s backpacks that I know won’t spoil, make a mess or be crushed.
Stretch Island Fruit Co. also offers a line of fruit strips that come in seven, delicious flavors. I especially like the Mango Sunrise flavor. Our family shared these fruit strips with friends at the pool one afternoon and they were a big hit with the adults and kids alike. Like the fruit rolls, the strips have all natural ingredients and no added sugars.
Stretch Island Fruit Co. products are available at grocery stores, health food stores and online. To get the latest info on their products, be sure to follow them on Twitter, @StretchIsland.
I was provided with a variety of Stretch Island Fruit Co. all natural FruitaBü Rolls and fruit strips to try-out for the purposes of reviewing. The opinions expressed are mine own.
