For the past several years, “Write will” has been on my to-do list. Though I know that it’s very important and necessary and truly the smart thing to do, I haven’t. There are some quirks, however, to writing your will if you are in a blended family.
Bankrate has produced this article to help you and your spouse draft a will to make sure that your wishes are followed and that your assets are distributed exactly as you wish. For details on setting up a trust for your children (so they, not an ex-spouse, benefit from their inheritance) to life insurance, if you have procrastinated getting your will in order (as I have), this article is worth a read.

Oh, thank you so much for posting this. I first wrote a will after my ex and I divorced, and it was pretty easy to figure things out with just me and the kids. Now I’m remarried and two of our [soon to be] 3 kids are legally my husband’s, and my oldest of course is shared with my ex. MUCH more complex — making a will update all the more necessary.
I need to get right on that.
