I tearfully sent my triplets off to their first day of pre-k last week. It was hard. For me. Them? They were beyond excited! But their excitement was tempered with a bit of anxiety. They had tons of questions that morning. I could tell that they were worried about some of the newness of it all. And why not? It’s a HUGE step.
Most children experience some degree of “jitters” over that first day of school. Will I do well? Will the other children like me? Will the teacher like me? Will I be homesick?
I remember having first day jitters every time a new school year began.
So what can we, as parents, do to help our children overcome those jitters? How do we prepare them for that big first day? How do we encourage them?
I found a great article from More4Kids. It’s full of fabulous tips for helping children get past those first day of school jitters.
