What do you do to get in the Holiday Spirit? With all the parties and running from one event to the other do we stop long enough to remember what the season is really about?
My daughter shared a list of “Holiday Spirit Prompts” with me . Simple things we can do, that add the love, the warmth, and the sparkle. I thought I would share them with you.
“Holiday Spirit Prompts”
- Write letters to Santa
- Read from your favorite Christmas story
- Have a late night Cookie & milk break
- Make candy cane milkshakes
- Sing Christmas songs before bed
- Watch a Christmas movie with popcorn
- Cuddle under a blanket
- Bake and take gifts to neighbors
- Give experiences instead of material gifts
- Play board games
- Make cards for teachers
- Have breakfast for dinner and eat in your pajamas
- Memorize a poem to recite at the dinner table
- Sleep under the Christmas tree
- Make your own wrapping paper
- Gaze at the winter stars
- Visit Christmas decorations in town
- Warm yourself by a roaring fire
- Cut out paper snowflakes
- Take a long winter’s nap
- Host a holiday dance party
- Write a list of 100 things you are grateful for
- Go caroling in your neighborhood or at a local nursing home
- Pray for peace.
- Spend 30 minutes of silent reflection on the meaning of the holiday season in your life.
- Call 5 people you love and tell them why you love them.
- Invite someone new to dinner.
- Attend a Christmas concert.
- Share the story of the best present you ever received.

Candy cane milkshakes sound delightful– how does one make those?
Hi Erin-
Take about 4 cups of vanilla ice-cream a little milk to the constistency you like blend then add 2- 3 candy canes- blend for a couple seconds.

I’ve been holding back a bit on getting started with my Christmas decorating but after looking at and reading all your ideas it has motivated to get busy and really remember the true meaning of Christmas plus get started on some deorating! Thanks for the inspiration you have given me!!
