Getting Ready for a New School Year

One of the biggest challenges we face each fall is my husband needing to get to know a new series of his son’s teachers, getting his contact information to the new batch, and introducing himself and letting them know that though he’s not the primary custodial parent he is, indeed, an involved one.
It’s not easy, but it’s necessary. Fortunately, the school system is pretty flexible and is pretty good about keeping him in the loop. Unfortunately, not everyone has it so easy.
Do you have any methods or tips for staying involved with your child/stepchild’s school?

My husband is primary parent, however it wasn’t always that way. Before when he wasn’t the primary parent it was important to get the teachers his information. We printed out a copy of our information and emailed it to them individually.
