Washable & Reusable Clear Tablecloths.
I love the thick, clear washable vinyl tablecloths at Walmart. I buy from the roll back in the Fabric Department, which I hear may be non-existent come April.
I paid less than $4 for 1-1/2 yards of the clear, thick vinyl to make a tablecloth.
I use this as a washable tablecloth for our dining room table.
I can slip maps under it and the children can use washable markers to map out a trip we are taking, or learn about the route taken by the Pioneers or even Lewis and Clark, as well as learning about the various states. This has been tremendous fun while eating lunch and I will say something like ‘Where’s Michigan" and the children will lift their plates to see who is nearest.
The tablecloth also works well for craft-time. Just use and wipe off any washable paint plasters, etc.

I’ve used the clear vinyl yardage from Hobby Lobby purchased with the 40% off coupon to cover our dining room table. I keep the table cloth on the bottom layer then put maps or hundreds charts or a cursive handwriting example, (whatever!) in the next layer, then the plastic on the top.
Keeps our wood table protected and from the side all you see is the nice tablecloth.
I LOVED this idea! My girls are studying Countries & Cultures this year so I took the GI-normous world atlas off the wall and laid it on the dining room table along with flags of current countries they are studying. They love it! I find myself constantly lifting the vinyl to add colorful pics and their artwork. Hubby was a little wigged-out that we were eating on school work… he got over it! How wonderful to have important papers and maps Always accessible! Thank you a million times for this fabulous, practical, CHEAP & effective idea!
