If your children are anything like mine, they are not only very excited to put on their costumes and go trick-or-treating but they’re pretty excited to check out their loot and eat candy galore! The US FDA has put together a list for Halloween food safety including:
- Don’t go trick-or-treat on an empty stomach. Have a light snack or meal first to prevent snacking en route.
- Tell your kids not to accept – or eat – anything not commercially wrapped.
- If juice or cider is served at Halloween parties, make sure it’s pasteurized to destroy harmful bacteria.
