Alex has recently discovered the consistency with which a newspaper magically appears at the end of our driveway.
Each morning I open the garage door and he waits with me in sweet expectation, “Newspaper??? YEAH!”
Some mornings he’s off like a shot. On others, he shakes his little bum, tucks his arms and looks toward me to provide a little motivation, “Ready? Set? GO!”
Once he reaches his destination (don’t worry, he always stops at the paper…whew) he makes a grand announcement. And I know all my neighbors appreciate this type of reporter-on-the-spot information (especially on weekends around 7:00AM):
“I’ve got it!”
“Here it is!”
“Eeeew…it’s wet!”
He scoops up the paper and sprints back to me in the way that only four year old boys can, feet flying akimbo, hands me the paper and cheerfully says, “For you Mommy. It’s a NEW one!”
