As I tuck Alex into bed each night, he updates me on his current cuddling rules and regulations. The mandate of the moment is, “No kisses. Only hugs.”
I don’t have to explain, this is cruel and unusual punishment for a mother. His anti-kissing mania has been going on for at least two months now. The kid is messing with me.
And he knows it. Little nut…
If he does allow me a smooch, he defiantly wipes his arm across the smack-a-roo’d area and announces, “I wipe you kiss off!”
To which I reply, “Oh, man!” He giggles and grins at me.
Yesterday afternoon we were snuggled up on the couch after school, my arm around his wee shoulders. During a lull in Dora the Explorer he turned his head up toward me and presented me with a great big pucker. Oh joy! Rapture! I leaned in for the offered kiss.
Quick as a whip, Alex turned his head and with his maniacal-evil-genius laugh said, “Bwah-ha-ha! You missed!”
Ohhhh…don’t mess with mommy. I need me some affection!
So now I make him kiss me when he wants food. One kiss = One bowl of Corn Pops
Is that so wrong?

I am going thru the same thing with my 4 yr old. If i kiss him he watches me to turn around and brushes it off. I will blow on his cheeck and tell him that it is stuck on for good. If he really wants something he tells me he will never wipe off my kisses. He laughs like it is a game, but it kills me inside.
Lol….no, that’s not bad of you. I mean lets face it, as a mom of boys, a mom’s gotta do what a mom’s gotta do! lol…I remember those times so well. My boys are 14 & almost 13 now, and we have been through many of such phases. Now, despite the fact that they are teenagers (a time when I least expected it), they are both extremely affectionate with me. Hang in there!
