One of the wonderful benefits of being a military wife is the discounts you can get at any number of retailers, restaurants, electronic stores and on offered services (such as phone bills or automobile work.)
As the daughter of a military man and now the wife of one, I want to encourage you to use your ID!
You won’t believe the places that offer discounts. Here are a few places I exercise my ID at:
- Movie Theaters
- Kohl’s
- Chick-Fil-A
- Timberland Outlets
- Apple (available online)
Here is an extensive list from the 4 Military Families website for you to peruse and save.
Don’t forget to ask when you are out shopping, as many retailers will offer a discount without even advertising it.
Happy shopping!

I love using my ID! I ask every where I go. I ask everytime even if the store has said no before, you never know when policies change!
Also, some Apple stores give the military discount in stores too. Again, you’ve just go to ask!
Great article!
I usually forget to ask about discounts, but whenever stores ask for ID I always pull out my military ID instead of my driver’s license, and often catch discounts that way.
I also got a discount in an Apple store. They mixed and matched my discounts for military and homeschool to give me the best deal!
I’m a vet, married to a vet, and I remember getting military discounts everywhere! Discounts on apartment rentals and/or deposits, utility deposits, driver’s license, and car tags are a few more to add to Kristen’s list (or at least they were “back then”.) I echo her advice – don’t be afraid to ask.
