I know one of the most dreaded ages (besides teenagers) are the terrible twos! After all who looks forward to screaming toddlers, biting, fighting and all that crying? So, you can imagine how many pitying looks we get when we go out with 3 two-year-olds! I have heard my fair share of “better you than me.” I have been told thousands of times that I have my hands full.
While I don’t disagree that life is hard with three two-year olds nor do I disagree that my hands are full, I’d love to share about the joy that having 3 two-year-olds brings me!
- There is always someone to cuddle. When I had just one two-year-old all my hugs had to wait until that one toddler wanted to cuddle – now I have 3 toddlers to choose from and often they even fight over the chance to get a hug! I love being loved!
- I love listening to them talk to each other. Just last night I over heard them talking in their room:
Julianna said, “Say cheese Rachel. Say cheese.”
Rachel replies with, “Cheeeez.”
Julianna said, “Good job Rachel.”
- They calm each other down. If one of them is upset the other one will give in and bring them what they want. Either that or they will yell at them, “That’s enough Nanna, stop crying.” This from Rachel in the backseat of the car while Julianna was throwing a tantrum. They are also very good at tattling and telling me what is wrong with the other one. I love to see them there for each other and so look forward to watching them grow together as friends and sisters.
- It’s wonderful to watch them play together. I can see how much they love each other. They never head to the basement to play unless they have a sister along. I love that they love each other!
- I especially love it when I catch two or three of them on the couch together. Whether they are reading books or playing with a toy, I can’t help but smile to see them sitting there together. It makes my day!
- This age is wonderful for watching them role play and pretend. When one starts and another follows it just adds to the cuteness. They pretend to sleep, play house, play mommy and draw. They learn at such an amazing rate, and I love being there to watch it times three.
They learn at such an amazing rate, and I love being there to watch it times three.
I’m sure my list could go on and on, but you get the idea. There isn’t really a terrible age among them. Sure, every age has its trials and times three those trials are magnified, but the truth is…so is the joy, and I wouldn’t trade that.
What about you? Is there an age you just love? Why?
