One thing I HAD to take with me the day I left for my first year of college was my CD collection. I didn’t want to be without all of my cool jams ’cause dorm life was not looking attractive at the time.
I had to take pictures of my family and pet to feel closer to home!
I had to take my miniature Crock-Pot, so that I could make a tiny little home-cooked meal in the dorm!
I’m going to college next year, so this is all very new and interesting to me. One thing I will definitely take is my iHome; I don’t think I can live without the ability to blast my music in my tiny little dorm!
Thanks for the giveaway opportunity
My VHS collection!
Ha ha, had to have lots of movies to keep us entertained!
I will be sending my son off for his second year of college
One thing that went with him, that was great, was a box of any OTC first aid, or medicine he may need. This was put together by my sister in law, and was a very much used item!!
Thanks so much for the nice giveaway

I had just received my first cell phone and there was no way I’d be going to college without it!
I took everything I could with me! I was so nervous! The things I remember most were my comforter. It was more like a quilt. And I brought my hair dryer with a diffuser. I can’t live without one of those. I have curly hair.
College was a lifetime ago…but I had to take my handmade quilts for my bed that my mother and aunts made!
It sure has been some time since going to college but now with a entering freshman it surprises me just how much things have changed but yet some things remain the same.
I remember most taking with me my favorite Jewelery box that play the God Father theme it had a ballerina that twirled around and around to the music. It was something my parents gave be as a child when I was talking ballet lessons. It is something that I have never forgotten and still have till this day. This is one of the reason that I have the God Father series on CD!

I don’t stay in a dorm, but I have done so once and I definitely had to bring my own sheets for the bed. Very important!!!
I had to take my woobage!
I have to take that with me.. I love this thing, I still have it. In fact.. I need to remember to get it out of the dryer
I graduated a few years ago so everything is fresh in my mind. I took 2 different “egg crate foam mattress things” because the mattresses SUCK and those make it 10x more bearable.
Also don’t forget shower shoes and a rug…those dorm floors get dirty!
I never lived in a dorm, so I never really got to take anything with me. I did live close enough to the college though, so I was able to have everything I wanted or needed right there.
I am also a follower on Facebook.
I had to take my favorite comforter given to me by my father. He had bought me this comforter and I loved it. It was so bulky but I made sure I made room in my tiny car to drive cross country.

I had to take cinder blocks with me to lift up the bed and create more storage.
I didn’t actually go away to college, but anywhere I may go, I have to have a CD player with praise & worship CDS. A must! Thank you for the awesome giveaway.

the best thing that i “had” to take to college with me was my new bookshelf stereo system that had been a graduation present. I didn’t have much to offer my roommate but I felt like that was a worthy contribution. that stereo was a good little companion throughout college and grad school and into my marriage!
I took a clothes hamper. Geeky, I know. But, I was able to keep my room so much cleaner because of it!
I also subscribe!! Thanks!
The one thing I had to have was my coffee maker. He who has a coffee maker has lots of friends.
As soon as I read the title….I got excited!
My first-born…is leaving in 11 days for his freshman year at IU!!
We have made so many lists and bought stacks of things we think he might need….whats at the top of the list??
YUMMY SOFT SHEETS!!!!
Great contest!
I cant believe my BABY (one and only child) is leaving for college 1750 miles away in 8 days!!! We made a huge list so we wouldn’t forget a thing. He has had a matching clip lamp for his bed and desk lamp since he was 10. Replacement bulbs and these are going. I, for one, am glad they match his bedding! (he couldn’t care LESS, by the way)
I absolutely had to bring a CD player and my own pillow!!

My stereo was the first thing I packed.
One thing I had to take was my pillow. I had the most comfy pillow and would even bring it with me when we went on vacations or slept over my grandparents. Loved that pillow!
What a great prize package. Thanks so much.

Thanks.
ok, I will show you my age…I had to take my pop corn popper, manuel can opener, tv set, calculator, and hot pot.
I had to take my record collection and stereo. It was 1973 so, yes they were LP’s. Boy CD’s would have been a lot lighter.
I had to take my camera!

I had to take a microwave and lots of popcorn
Definitely my pillow, a mini fridge, and shower shoes!
My photo albums so I could see everyone I missed whenever I wanted.
tvollowitz at aol dot com
I took my Sony Walkman and mix tapes!!!!!!
What i took to college was my mini fridge and the microwave… i knew i could live off of ramens if i had both of those by myside…
I had to take my stuffed skunk Waldemeyer with me. He’s still around though, like me, he’s a bit faded.
I took an 8 inch portable TV….biggest item in my room!
Thank you.
I had to take my favorite sweatshort ( a big girls comfort blanket)
Beatles ‘let it be’.
When I left home for college, I took my CD collection and my stereo. Great contest! Thank you!
I only remember taking my checkbook, bedding, clothes, and a lamp. I was 10 hours from my home with no car.
My kids are taking the whole house…but oddly there doesn’t seem to be any room for me:(
wasn’t done….sorry
And the one thing I couldn’t do without was my checkbook. It allowed me to get my fee card, which was my free pass to get all student services.
Most definitely, the checkbook.
my TV
ok, it was awhile ago but I remember taking a plug n skillet to make sandwiches, etc. I took lots of pillows.
A new outfit for the first day of school! And a hot air popcorn popper.
I took a mini fridge with me but I quickly found out I needed flip-flops for the shower room! You don’t want to be standing on the floor in bare feet in the community bathroom.

I take my iPhone with me because with the iPhone I can use it to use internet and listen my music.
The one thing I knew I couldn’t forget to take with me to college was my pair of noise-canceling headphones — turns out I was prophetic, because my freshman year roommate was a terribly loud snorer! They also were invaluable for studying in noisy coffee shops and libraries – and for tuning out the world when I needed to. Thanks!

Sneak little notes about how much you love them ,miss them and how proud you are of them and lots of encouraging notes everywhere you can hide one. That first couple of weeks they get homesick and you miss them so much.
Thinking about my daughter finding a new note every little bit kept me going and it meant so much to her. Notes mean more than any material thing they take with them.
Does my retainer count?
I took my special Sensa pen. Thought it would make taking notes easier, but a plain old Bic works better than the spendy pens.
A little bitty microwave. ESSENTIAL!
I didn’t go away to college. I commuted. I guess if I were going now I couldn’t leave without my laptop.
Thanks for the contest!
When I left for college – back in the 50s – I had to have my hi-fi record player and my collection of 45s!!
First aid supplies

The ONE thing I had to take with me when I left for college was a stone table and chisel. Hey, some us went to college a long, LONG time ago.
GLTA!

One thing I took was pre-paid phone cards. Have I “dated” myself with that comment?
I needed my books–all my childhood favorites–to keep me company.
stereo

I didn’t go to college but I left home for D.C. to work for the FBI and the one thing I had to have was a tv; it made me pretty popular back then because a lot of people didn’t have one. Thank you for the great giveaway!
My electric typewriter. How sad is it that I admit I’m that old?
I was home when I attended college but when I moved out I had to take my TV. I loved my TV and I couldn’t leave it behind.
My first college entry was a diploma nursing school, and the dorm didn’t allow anything much except a few clothes (of course, this was before all the electronics they have now!), so the only thing I took extra was really an alarm clock. When I went back to school for my BS and MS, I lived off campus and the only really important thing I took was my daughter!
I didn’t leave home, went to a local college
I will be going to college soon and I will be moving out of town. I will be living off campus, so I will be able to take my cat! She’ll definitely keep me sane!
My children took a mini fridge and a microwave. I lived at home and commuted when I attended college
I took my pillow. Nothing else made me feel like it was home.
I took my TV when I moved out. I went to college while living at home.
I had to take my down filled pillow!
The one thing that I couldn’t live without would have to be my complete bedding set. There is nothing like your own pillows and sheets as well as blankets.

i took anapartment size frige and microwave…..
I had a little second-hand mini fridge that was a lifesaver during my first semester of college. I stocked it with healthy foods and it really helped me make the transition.
Sending my daughter with a small fridge, and a second hand laptop. She just turned 18 and I am wondering where all the years went!
all my tapes, yup, i’m old.
Well… this isn’t going to be very helpful. The one thing I forgot that my parents had to mail to me was my clarinet so I could be in the band.

I had to take my boombox with me.
A phone card just in case something happens to her cell phone, she can still call home.
I never went to college (I’m 82 years old!) BUT, if I did, I’d probably want to bring my address book with me, with everyone’s phone number and address.
I brought my tv with me when I moved out but had to have it at home because thats where I stayed when I attended college
I had to take my clock radio – I like being awoken gently in the mornings!
Thanks for the giveaway!
