We received a postcard in the mail yesterday informing us that middle school orientation is only weeks away. Like, three weeks. How did the summer go by so quickly? The countdown is on and back-to-school shopping and preparation is eminent. As with each school year, I enjoy sending my kids with gifts for the new teachers. I think it’s a way to tell the teacher on day one that you appreciate all that they will be doing for your children five days a week for the next nine months.
Today I’ve gathered 7 Back-to-School Teacher’s Gift ideas that go beyond the traditional ‘apple for teacher’.
/1/ Apples Teacher’s Gift Basket – I know I said these gifts would go beyond ‘apples for teacher’ but, this one is different. This basket is filled with all things apple scented or flavored. A fun twist on a traditional gift.
/2/ Back-to-School Wreath – Your child’s teacher will love this wreath and certainly hang it on her classroom door the moment she receives it!
/3/ ‘Uh-Mason’ Teacher’s Gift – These insulated, plastic Mason jars are less than $5 at most big box stores making this is pretty inexpensive gift. Fill it full of candy, add the printable note with ribbon or twine and call it done. Easy-peesy!
/4/ Teacher Questionnaire – Not sure what to get your child’s new teacher? Send this questionnaire to school with him/her on the first day and then use it throughout the year to send small token of appreciation often. It’s a great way to find out if she’ll actually use a coffee shop gift card {among other things}. Maybe she’s a tea drinker, not a coffee drinker.
/5/ One Smart Cookie Printable – Have a cookie recipe that you know Teacher will rave about? Or, you know that she has a sweet tooth? {who doesn’t?} Make a batch and send them to school on the first day.
/6/ Apple Chalkboard Frame – This frame will be fun for years to come. Your child’s new teacher can put notes on it throughout the year and change them as she wishes. She could add her name, Welcome, her classroom number…the possibilities are endless!
/7/ DIY Chalkboard Flower Pot – A indoor plant has a way of brightening up any room that it’s placed in. Not sure if Teacher has a ‘green thumb’? Add a succulent to the pot. They can survive on very little water or care.
Do you send Back-to-School Teachers Gifts on the first day of school? What do you normally send? We’d love to hear all about it on our Facebook page!
What do you think?
