How to find some ” Me Time”! Something a lot of us don’t get nearly enough of, but that is so important to our health, well-being, and of course, our sanity to give yourself a break. I personally don’t get a lot of me time. I work full time, and I raise three kids full time. So between running kids to school, activities, playdates, working, housework, cooking meals, running errands, and volunteering in class, there’s not a whole lot of time left over. And when there is I’m normally asleep … or resting one eye while making lists in my head of the next day’s to-do list, or trying to remember what that song was from last year that had a catchy line. Finding time for me is important for my happiness.
Two weekends a month though two of my three children visit their dad. I like to refer to that as ‘me time’. More often than not, it’s spent washing their bedding, catching up on work deadlines, grocery shopping, and planning out the week ahead, but I always give myself at least one night off. And my friends can tell you exactly what I’m doing. I’m sitting in bed, surrounded by everything I could possibly need short of a bed pan.

This is a pretty standard look for me on my ‘me nights’. I have Netflix on, yummy food, plenty of snacks to get me through the night (because nobody wants to walk up and down the stairs to the kitchen), a glass of wine (okay, sometimes I’ll leave a bottle on the nightstand, because again, stairs), water, magazines, and my phone. Everything within reach.
It’s my time to catch up on whatever series I’m currently watching, while simultaneously catching up on the latest fashion and beauty trends, celebrity gossip, and if I’m lucky, get a little inspiration for upcoming work projects.
And so what was on my bed last night?
PEOPLE magazine
Well, before my flight to Kentucky on Friday (for a romantic Valentine’s Day weekend away), I headed to my local Ralphs to pick up a few magazines to read on the plane. While flicking through PEOPLE®, I came across a great recipe for Gnocchi with Sausage and Broccoli Rabe. I, of course, had to make it. So I returned to Ralphs on my way home from the airport yesterday to pick up all the ingredients I needed.

It was so tasty and so quick and easy to whip up. And because my oldest kid was at work, I have leftovers for lunch today too.
And I, of course, did the crossword puzzle in the magazine too, and then flicked through StyleWatch® and InStyle® to get up-to-date with the latest trends.
Oh, and if you grab this week’s issue of PEOPLE®, you’ll find a ballot sheet for the Oscars too. I see a girls’ night in that night with your Oscars ballot in hand, and gnocchi with sausage and broccoli rabe for everyone to enjoy.

With this moment of “Me Time” I Updated my dinner menus and of course my personal style! ON the style front I really enjoyed the spring trend reports. Hint: lots of braids, open toed mules, tie front skirts, floral prints and more!
