This recipe comes from a friend I worked with in the music business, TJ Bryan. Currently a DJ on WJRZ and the owner of Shore Flicks in New Jersey, TJ really knows his way around a kitchen. These chocolate peanut butter rice krispie treats check off all the boxes: sweet, salty, crunchy, and chewy. For me, the butterscotch chips give this such an interesting flavor – such an unexpected choice. Try them for your next bake sale or party. Heck, take them to share at your office – you’ll be a star!
Here is his recipe:
TJ’s Best EVER Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 c. light corn syrup
- 1 c. peanut butter
- 6 c. Rice Krispies
- 1 c. chocolate chips
- 1 c. butterscotch chips
Over medium high heat bring the sugar and corn syrup to a boil, remove from heat and stir in peanut butter until mixture is smooth.
Fold in the rice krispies, mixing thoroughly. Transfer to a baking dish (I use a 9×13 pyrex) sprayed with vegetable oil such as Pam. Use wax paper to press it down.
In a medium saucepan melt together the chocolate and butterscotch chips over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth. Spread over the rice krispies and cover with plastic wrap.
Once cooled, cut in 1″ squares and as TJ says, ” revel in the deliciousness”.
