In the South, citrus fruits are thought to be primarily Summer fruits. However, our Northern friends tend to enjoy citrus more in the Fall months. Little did I know, as a Southerner, that there are so many Fall recipes that feature citrus fruits as a main ingredient or, at the very least, a complimenting ingredient.
Today I have quite a few recipes that include a piece of citrus fruit in its repertoire. From breakfast to dessert, you’re sure to find a recipe here that will delight your taste buds!
/1/ Broiled Grapefruit with Honey and Pistachios – The flavor of this grapefruit will explode in your mouth! Coupled with honey and pistachios, you’re sure to have a delectable breakfast with this recipe.
/2/ Cranberry Orange Muffins – Muffins are never a bad idea for breakfast. Make them the night before to save time in the morning.
/3/ Caramel Apple Tart – You’re bound to have a breakfast or brunch to attend this holiday season. Make a batch of these caramel apple tarts to impress your friends. They’re sure to invite you back to their next gathering!
/4/ Vanilla Grapefruit Marmalade – No longer will you have just plain toast and butter. Make a batch of this vanilla grapefruit marmalade for the perfect topping.
/5/ Quinoa and Kale Salad – Quinoa is sort of all the rage right now among health buffs. While quinoa is high in protein, kale is high in beta carotene and vitamin C. To say this salad is good for you is a bit of an understatement.
/6/ Arugula Sugared Pistachios Citrus Salad – I think in the Fall we tend to forget that a salad is a good option for lunch {or even dinner}. This arugula sugared pistachios citrus salad is sure to remind us why salads are good to eat all year long.
/7/ Zesty Citrus Butternut Squash Dip – For a light lunch, make a batch of this dip and serve with warm bread slices for dipping. This should make for a light fare on a cool Fall afternoon.
/8/ Braised Pork Shoulder – Need a recipe that you can set and forget? You’ve come to the right place. This braised pork shoulder is the perfect main course to an evening of relaxing at home.
/9/ Grapefruit Glazed Turkey Tenderloin – It’s not only the season for citrus but, also turkey! This turkey tenderloin recipe just may be too beautiful to eat, though.
/10/ French Beef Stew with Red Wine – Looking for a hearty meal for a cool evening? This one is IT! Take a look at those smooth mashed potatoes, the rich gravy and the tender meat…my tummy is growling.
/11/ Baked Herb and Citrus Chicken Thighs – You’re sure to please a crowd with these tangy chicken thighs. Serve with your favorite fresh steamed vegetable for a perfect weeknight dinner.
/12/ Coconut Shrimp with Orange Chia Marmalade – Good coconut shrimp can be hard to find while dining out. Make your own at home and know that they’ll be delicious each time. When dipped in the chia marmalade sauce you’ll also be getting a healthy dose of Omega-3!
/13/ Orange Almond Self-Saucing Pudding – After dinner you’re sure to want something sweet but, not too sweet. I can almost taste this orange almond self-saucing pudding right now. Yum!
/14/ Pumpkin Bread with Orange Cream Cheese – At the first mention of Fall everyone gets excited about all-things-pumpkin. Bake up a batch of this pumpkin bread and then spread a nice, thick layer of orange cream cheese on top. It’s make for the perfect Fall treat!
/15/ Homemade Citrus Sangria – If you’re planning on having a few girlfriends over, make this citrus sangria for you all to sip on while you chat.
