Gingerbread Popcorn – Healthy and Delicious Snack Recipe

Tis the season of spending time in the kitchen making sweet treats and delicious desserts.  Our house has been filled with the sweet scents of the holiday season more days then not.  Sometimes we are baking for ourselves and sometimes we are making goodies for others.  One of our favorite things to make (for us and to give) is popcorn.  Fancy holiday popcorn to be exact.  We have experimented with all kinds of flavor combinations and tastes and we have a perfect one for Christmas time.  Gingerbread popcorn!

Gingerbread Flavored Popcorn

This popcorn is the perfect combination of sweet and savory and tastes just like Christmas!  Its easy to make and I bet you have most of the ingredients in your kitchen already.  To make your own gingerbread popcorn you will need:

  • 1 bag of popcorn, popped
  • 4 pieces of white chocolate bark
  • 1/2 tbs ground ginger
  • 1/2 tbs ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tbs ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tbs ground cloves

how to make gingerbread popcorn

Melt your chocolate in a double boiler while your popcorn is popping.  We use a faux double boiler which is two similar sized pots stacked on top of each other.  The bottom one holds the water (about a cup) and the top one holds the chocolate.  The steam from the bottom pot helps to evenly melt the chocolate above.  Mix your spices together (or just gingerbread spice if you have it!) while its melting and set them aside.  Take the melted chocolate and pour it over your popcorn.  (I put my popcorn on a cookie sheet but anything similar will work.)  Toss the popcorn so its coated in the melted chocolate.  Before it sets add your gingerbread spices and give it one more toss.  Let it cool for an hour or put it in the fridge to have it set faster.

Delicious Gingerbread Popcorn for a health Christmas snack recipe

Like most popcorn recipes, this was a huge hit in our house!  My daughter can most likely eat the whole bag by herself, but we shared it as a family and watched a Christmas movie.  The chocolate bark is the perfect amount of sweet to go along with the gingerbread spices!  We all loved it!

This would also make a perfect gift as well!  Put it in a mason jar with a little ribbon and you are all set!  Just make sure the person you are giving it to knows that it should be eaten within 2 days.  Which I can guarantee will not be a problem!

Hello! This sounds yummy, but I’m wondering if the spices in the recipe are measured in TABLESPOONS or TEASPOONS? “TBS.” looks like tablespoons to me, but that seems to be too much…. Please help! I’m about to make this treat for teacher Christmas gifts.
    Thank you and Merry Christmas!
