October is National Apple Month! It would seem that I’ve been celebrating unknowingly for a few years now. October is when my most favorite apple appears and I eat more apples during this month than any other time of the year! Which apple is that you ask? The Honeycrisp apple – pure perfection that tastes like heaven.

In addition to the appearance of the Honeycrisp, late September and October are when apples come fully into season, the prices drop and you can find the best tasting apples in your favorite grocery store or at your local Farmer’s Market. Pumpkins may get get a lot of attention in October (and don’t get me wrong, I love me some pumpkin) but for October, apples are where it’s at!
I’ve rounded up several Blissfully Domestic recipes that highlight this versatile fruit. Find some inspiration for using the season’s bounty!
- Mary Beth shares a special pie recipe – Grandma’s Harvest Apple Pie
- This recipe from MommyNamedApril is simple and delicious – Slow Cooker Apple Butter
- Caramel apples are a yummy fall treat but Amy Locurto takes an extra step to make them extra yummy! – Chocolate Caramel Apples
- Candied apples can be difficult for young children to eat so Vanessa found a creative way to make them more kid friendly! – Mini Candy Apples
- Rachel introduced this breakfast dish to celebrate Valentine’s Day but it definitely deserves a showing during October, maybe as a weekend breakfast treat! – French Toast Apple Bake
Apples also make lovely decorations like this Apple Topiary! Or you can simply set out a bowl of them on your kitchen table like my friend did for a recent dinner party.
What is your favorite way to celebrate the apple? Do you have a special recipe or way of displaying them each autumn? Tell us in the comments and feel free to link to your recipes and decorating posts! (Only one link per comment please, otherwise you’ll end up as spam!)
