Nothing relaxes me more after a long day then a beautiful glass of vino. I will admit, I am very partial to reds. And because I am impatient, I have always used a wine aerator when pouring wine from the bottle.
I have had my aerator for a few years now. Being new and not very knowledgeable to the world of wine, I had always wondered if it was a gimmick. When I first tried it and did a side by side taste test, I could really taste the difference. I was shocked. I am so glad a local wine connoisseur took the time to explain the process and benefits to me.
Fast forward to now. I was offered a chance to review a new type of aerator by Soiree. The Soiree aerator fits in the top of your wine bottle and is made from hand blown glass. It is easy to use, easy to clean and is made to fit in any wine bottle.
“Soiree infuses your wine naturally, using gravity and oxygen in a simple pour. Soiree decants any portion of wine, whether a bottle for guests or just a glass for yourself.“
Curious to see how ot would stand up to my old and faithful aerator, I once again did a side by side taste test. Soiree claims to gently aerate you wine without the harsh effects of ‘other‘ aerators. I could easily tell the difference between aerators and could taste the harsh pour of my previous aerator. My previous aerator left a bitter after taste in my mouth and made the overall sip more tart and almost sour. The Soiree gave the wine a smooth taste with no bitter or residual after taste. I would have to agree that Soiree does deliver a truly open wine, even to the inexperienced drinker. Truly a great gift for the casual wine drinker to the wine snob extraordinaire!
