November is now in full swing and with it come more beautiful orange pumpkins nestled in their bed of fall leaves, crisp cool weather, and cuddly warm sweaters.
Thanksgiving, one of my personal favorites, is right around the corner.
I love that it isn’t commercialized like other holidays, and I truly feel like I can just sit back and reflect on all the blessings that have been bestowed on me. No gifts, no fussy decorations, just a simple day with those I love dearly (I know mushy, huh?)
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m still in it for the food too! I’m a traditional girl, and love my traditional Thanksgiving dinner! However, I hate spending all my time in the kitchen and missing out on precious time with my family and friends.
Let’s face it! It doesn’t matter if you are spending Thanksgiving solo or with a group of 20; too often the preparation seem to ominous to handle, and tends to overshadow the simplicity of this great holiday! There is a solution!! Here is a Thanksgiving meal plan that will help any host/hostess create the flavors of a traditional meal, with a few tips, that will get you out of the kitchen and back with your guests!
Tip 1:I have included recipes to make all dishes, but remember that many grocery stores now carry precooked turkeys and hams, that have a wonderful homemade flavor and are a huge time savor. Don’t be afraid to help yourself out!
Tip 2: Please note ** represents dishes that can be partially/fully prepared 1-3 days in advance. This helps to keep the prep-time down on the actually feasting day.
Main Dish:
- Brined, Stuffed and Roasted Turkey **
or
- Honey Baked Ham
Side Dishes:
- Simple and Easy Cornbread Dressing **
- SourCream Mashed Potatoes
- Easy Loaded Yams or Candied Sweet Potatoes
- Oh-So-Easy Cream Corn **
- Almond Green Beans
- Blue Cranberry Sauce ** or Cranberry and Blue Cheese Dip
- Semi-Homemade Dinner Roll Wreath
Dessert:
- Pumpkin Pie Pudding with Ginger Snap Crumbles **
- Pecan Pie Bars **
Wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving!! May God Bless you and your loved ones during this Holiday Season!
