Almond Green Beans

When my husband and I got married, I asked family and friends to please bring a completed recipe card with their favorite recipe, to the wedding showers. They were added to my recipe box at the sign in table and to this day, several of those recipes are staples in our household.
During that time a dear friend of mine shared this recipe with me and while I haven’t seen her for years, every time I make these delicious green beans, it brings a smile to my face to think of her and the wisdom and joy she gifted to me as a young woman and new bride.
Almond Green Beans
- 2 cans of green beans (14 oz ea)
- 1/2 C butter
- 2 Tbsp cider vinegar
- 1/4 C sugar
- 1 small package sliced almonds
- Heat beans thoroughly, this may be done in microwave or stove top.
- In a separate saucepan, on medium heat. Stir butter, vinegar, sugar, and almonds until sugar is caramelized and almonds are toasted.
- Pour almond mixture over warmed green beans just before serving.
