Christmas Cookies are different for everyone. Some people think Christmas Cookies are only Sugar Cookies, or Frosted Shortbreads or Gingerbread Cookies.
I think that Christmas Cookies can be any kind of cookie. Depending on where you live in the country or what kind of baking your grew up with.. these Butterballs (very similar to Mexican Wedding Cookies) might define Christmas to you, as they do to the darling girl who sent us this recipe and picture.
These buttery vanilla cookies rolled in powdered sugar look and sound delicious and I think they look like little snowballs… totally Christmas-y.
Ingredients
- 1 cup REAL butter
- 1 cup and 4 tbsp powdered sugar
- 2 cups flour
- 1tsp vanilla
- 1 cup finely chopped nuts… we use pecans or walnuts
- Cream together butter and 4tbsp powdered sugar.
- Add flour and nuts and mix well.
- Form balls(about the size of a walnut) and place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 350 for 15-18 min. CAREFULLY roll in powdered sugar while warm (they will be delicate) and again after they cool.
EASY and DELICIOUS! A perfect Snowball Butterball Cookie for Santa and his little helpers.
