This fruit salad is my grandma’s recipe and when I was a kid it was always my favorite thing she made. She has since passed it down to me and sometimes she asks me to make it for family gatherings. It’s so nice to get all the glory for this yummy side dish. It’s sweet enough to be dessert and light enough to be breakfast the next day. I serve it in a pretty trifle dish and it looks as good as it tastes.
You can vary the fruit you use but here is the one I make and I think it’s pretty perfect as it is.
Ingredients:
- 2 large cans Pineapple Chunks, drained (use tidbits if you are serving very young children)
- 2-3 large cans mandarin oranges, drained
- 1-2 cups seedless grapes, halved
- 1 bag mini-marshmallow (don’t get the cheap off brand ones!!…they will disintegrate and get all mushy- ewww)
- 16 oz sour cream (I use light sour cream and I can’t tell a difference)
Directions:
Mix all ingredients together and refrigerate 6+ hours…it’s really better overnight but if you are short on time make sure it is in the fridge at least 6 hrs.
Do you have a food like this one that brings back fond family memories?
