Have you ever found yourself standing in the children’s department of your local library, trying to figure out what to choose for your little one?
I know I have.
My son isn’t reading on his own yet, so I still pick out books that I think he might enjoy.
I found a cute one last week.
The Pencil Book Review
It’s called The Pencil. The author is Allan Ahlberg and the illustrator is Bruce Ingman.
What’s so great about this book?
Here’s the condensed version:
- A pencil comes to life
- It draws a boy named Banjo
- It then creates a world of friends and family for Banjo
- The pencil draws a paintbrush to color the world
- The people drawn start to complain (someone ALWAYS does, right?)
- Pencil draws an eraser to correct some flaws
- The eraser starts erasing EVERYTHING (trust the eraser to go nuts)
You’ll have to read the story to find out what happens in the end.
It’s great for ages 4-8. The pictures are what got my son’s attention, the story kept him entertained.
If you decide to check this book out yourself, drop me a line and let me know how you and your little one(s) liked it!
