If you were ever confused as to why dinosaurs became extinct, look no farther than Dinosaurs Love Underpants by Claire Freedman and Ben Cort. In this charming story of how the dino’s met their doom, we learn that it was not an ice age that caused their extinction, but undies! The dinosaurs battle over underpants until they wiped each other out.
If you have a young child who loves dinosaurs and is getting close to potty training, this is the book for you. This is not a potty training book, but merely a joyful tale of the excitement of underpants, surely guaranteed to carry over to your little one. The silly rhyming and colorful pictures delight readers both young and old.
A word of caution, the dinosaurs all become extinct in the end of this story, so if you are a parent who does not want your child to witness dinosaurs fighting to extinction over underpants, this would not be the book for you. As a parent of toddlers, my children think the dinosaurs are sleeping, not extinct and the fighting and death do not bother me, as they are depicted in a ridiculously funny manner that I would not consider violent.
Overall, this book is hilarious and not too long, which makes it is perfect for bedtime. The thought that dinosaurs engage in a Mighty Underpants War makes readers of all ages giggle, not only at the mention of undies, but that the mighty dinosaurs will meet their demise over them. Dinosaur loving children and parents will not be disappointed!
