Do you know how much you matter to God?
This question lies at the heart of evangelist and author Beth Redman’s latest book. She shares her heart through poignant, vulnerable stories from her own life when she experienced the rejection of her father.
No matter how good and whole we are, there are days when we all feel misunderstood, blamed, forgotten and rejected. Using scripture and tender assurances of God’s love she reminds the reader that God created us and loves us despite our flaws and failures. This encouraging book enables readers to know that they are not alone in their struggles and that they are significant to God.
Even if you haven’t experienced rejection on the level that Redman has, I feel all women can relate to her story on some level. We all have trauma in our past and those memories can hold us captive. She explores this by retelling the story of her son Noah’s birth and near death experiences in the neonatal intensive care unit. Even once he was healed and home she was haunted by the ordeal of nearly losing him. As a mom, I can so relate to her struggle. I often let worry and fear hang a dark cloud over my parenting experience. Through the power of prayer she transformed her thinking from “he nearly died” to “he is alive and well.”
The book includes a study guide for group discussion but also lends itself to personal study and reflection. She concludes each discussion section with a specific prayer and scripture to help the reader connect with God’s unconditional love.
