Linger, the sequel to Maggie Stiefvater’s Shiver, was just released this month. If you loved Shiver you are not going to believe what happens in Linger.

The love story between Sam and Grace continues to unfold and grow in her second story. Stiefvater also introduces two new main characters, Cole and Isabelle. Both characters are hurt and broken, lashing out at all who try and reach out and help them. Yet there is an unspoken bond between the two that continues to draw them closer together. Cole is a ‘new‘ werewolf who was recently bitten by the pack leader Beck. Isabelle, who was introduced briefly in the last book, continues to struggle with the death of her brother and her new found attraction to Cole.

Linger is written in Stiefvater’s vivid and beautiful lyrical style. I was once again in awe at her choice of words and how they provoke such immense imagery. The beginning of the book was a bit slow for my taste but once I was about a third of the way through I could not put it down. And the ending – you will not believe it!! I can’t wait to see what Stiefvater has in store in the final book, Forever.
