A few months ago, I picked up a book called Knitting Under the Influence, written by Claire LaZebnik.
I loved it.
So when I heard that LaZebnik had another book out in September, I jumped at the chance to review it.
I was not disappointed.

I have no sisters, so I don’t have that personal experience to link me to the characters in this book.
But never mind that.
Ava and Lauren Nickerson are as polar opposite as two sisters could be.
Ava: the big sister, studious, plain, no-nonsense lawyer, hasn’t had a date in years
Lauren: younger, flighty, clothes-obsessed, in debt to her eyeballs, attracts men like moths to flame
This combination is bound to cause problems.
And it does, for Ava. A long ago letter between their mother and an old friend, is found by Lauren, who makes it her mission to reunite her sister with the guy she hasn’t seen since childhood.
Ava is not a willing participant in her sister’s scheme.
Or is she?
This book is light, funny and will suck you in with the first chapter. Ms. LaZebnik is a wonderful writer who does a great job of making the characters both believable and lovable.
I wonder if she will come out with a sequel?

Thanks for cheering me up, Antonette–I was depressed and came across this lovely review and it made me smile. I’m not working on a sequel at the moment, but a lot of people have asked me if I’m planning one which makes me wonder if I should have made the book a bit longer to begin with! I’ve started another book for 5 Spot which should come out in 2010 if all goes well. Love the site! xoclaire
