If you missed the opportunity to win on Mrs. Fussypants, we have another chance for you to win this fabulous book! Don’t miss out this time!
As originally posted on Mrs. Fussypants…
I love this book and the woman who wrote it!
The Internet is full of magical women. Women who are made of handfuls of glitter and have fairy dust sprinkled in their hair.

I totally stole this picture from Sandy's site. Don't tell her, Ok?
My friend Sandy Coughlin is one of these women.
Sandy has a brand new book based from her fantastic blog, The Reluctant Entertainer. Wanna see? Click here!
Homegirl uses a dollar store goblet as her icon. Beauty without the crazy!
How do you not love a woman who tells you how to entertain without all the obsessive worry and post-event nervous breakdown? You gotta love it.
Because Sandy is awesome she is giving away a book to one of my friends.
To enter to win Sandy’s Book, The Reluctant Entertainer, you need to put on your reluctant entertainer hat.
Answer one of these three questions in the comments:
1) What keeps you from entertaining (or just plain ol’ having guests over) as much as you would like?
2) Do you love using mason jars as much as Sandy and I do?
3) Are you a perfectionist who needs to learn to chill out and have a good time?
Contest ends September 30 at midnight eastern and 1 lucky person will win a copy of the book!

We enjoy having people over and usually it is rather simple and fun for all.
I don’t have people over enough because I’m overly concerned with how the house looks. We have a wonderful house, it’s just that we really LIVE here, we are here all day homeschooling and such and it seems we can’t keep it tidy for long. Sometimes I wish I was more OCD like some of my friends – their houses are always picked up!
I want everything to be good enough & always feel like something, like the meal, will go wrong. I stress too much it isn’t worth the trouble.
Love & Hugs, Pam
I am reluctant to entertain as much as I would like because I have a neighbor who has a gift for decorating, cooking and entertaining large groups. I have a small house and limited resources, so I feel that I just can not entertain in the style that I would like.
Striving for a perfect house is what keeps me from entertaining more. It’s an illness, I tell ya. My husband is my inspiration, though. He wants to entertain ALL OF THE TIME, reguardless of how the house looks or if the rug is clean. To him, it’s all about the relationships. I love that man.
Love mason jars! We use them regularly to store leftover coffee, spaghetti sauce, salsa and on the counter for our cooking utensils / serving wear. This book sounds awesome!
I’ve recently returned to my love of Mason jars!
I have loved the look of Mason jars since I was a kid and was always ridiculed. It took the internet to show me that there are MANY others out there who love them too. I feel vindicated.
I am TOTALLY one of those people that needs to learn to chill out! On every other day of the week (ie when I’m not entertaining) I clean as I go, do my dishes as I cook, etc. which is not so easy to do when you have guests, unless you plan on ignoring them. NOT falling into this habit when I have guests over is REALLY hard for me!
Up to this point, I have used a Mason jar to store pencils, so I guess I need to re-examine my relationship with them.
My house keeps me from entertaining. It’s just not big enough!
I love our house, but I don’t generally entertain because our house is fairly small. I keep it as clean as possible with a husband, a toddler, and an infant. But with two small children, I feel like we have toys everywhere and our house is just not large enough to have places to put everything. I’m also a bit of a perfectionist who just needs to relax and realize that I’m doing the best I can with the space that I have and simply enjoy the people in our lives that we invite over.
I’m one of those who needs to learn to chill out as well. Post-injury, I’m learning. Slowly. Very slowly. Sometimes you just really need to relax and let others minister to you.
If it makes you feel any better, Kim, I have one currently being used to sprout an avocado seed.
I don’t have people over very much because I am always afraid that my house is messy and not “perfect” enough. I should just get over it as I am losing opportunities to have people that I care about over. I however am more than happy to go to someone else’s home and bring whatever they need. Guess I need the book!
What keeps me from entertaining more? 11 kids, that’s what.
However, we do have a big house, and a pool, and a basement with foosball, ping pong, and pool (gotta give those kids something to do!) so we are the logical place to have a party, and often do. But it’s never easy and I never feel at ease.
Maybe the book could help?
My self doubt keeps me from entertaining. “I’ll mess up dinner.” “I’ll not have things ready in time.” “My house isn’t good enough.” “They won’t like what I made.” All irrational things when I look at the bigger picture. Having people in my home, talking, laughing, enjoying, is what should matter.
#2 – Mason jars, yes! I just snagged a bunch on clearance at Target.
Not sure how to keep my 4 month old happy while making a meal and entertaining
I absolutely LOVE mason jars.
In response to #3:
YES! Please help me!
What keeps you from entertaining (or just plain ol’ having guests over) as much as you would like?
I’d say my furniture, very old, very ugly, and the fact that I don’t know how to entertain well, i’d love to learn how to be a good hostess
I am a perfectionist, but I love to entertain. I still do entertain, but I’m often exhausted at the end of the event!

I’d have to say lack of confidence keeps me from entertaining, and the typical messy house of someone with a small home, and active children who keep their stuff EVERYWHERE!
I’d love to entertain more…
I would love to entertain, but have no budget to fix my place so I can invite friends over.
And yes I love to use mason jars!
I’m a perfectionist and always worry about how my apartment looks like, how the food is, whether guests gonna like to be in there. This doesn’t let me to relax and enjoy this time.
I am totally a perfectionist that needs to CHILL OUT and have more fun. I would love to win a copy of this book. I just started reading Sandy’s blog and I love it!

Being a perfectionist really gets in the way of spontaneity …always worried that my guests won’t have all their comforts addressed before hand. Doesn’t leave much time to get in the moment until mid-way through. Thanks for the chance to win a book written by a lady I really adore, Sandy! She’s a wonderful example of hostitality the way it should be!
