After weeks of speculation, it’s finally official. Superstar Beyonce Knowles has given birth to a baby girl. According to numerous reports, the talented Grammy-award winner gave birth via a scheduled Cesarean section at a New York hospital on January 7th, the same day Elvis Presley was born. Both mama and baby are doing fine. This is the first child for Beyonce and Jay-Z who were married in 2008.
While the baby’s name has not been officially confirmed, Blue (Blu) Ivy Carter or Ivy Blue (Blu) Carter rank high on the list of real possibilities. “Blue” is reportedly derived from hubby Jay-Z (Shawn Carter) “The Blueprint” CDs and “Ivy” comes from the roman numeral “IV” – Beyonce’s favorite number.
Beyonce made the surprise pregnancy announcement during the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards when she showed off her expanding baby bump. But with no hint about delivery date, baby watchers have been on high alert. Just days ago, rumors were swirling that the 30-year-old superstar had already given birth.
Fans and celebs are sending congratulations messages to the couple via Twitter. Rihanna tweeted:
“Welcome to the world princess Carter. Love Aunty Rih.”
Actress Gwyneth Paltrow tweeted:
“Welcome to the world Blue. We love you already.”
And Russell Simmons tweeted:
“Congrats to my good friends Beyonce and Jay-Z”
In an effort to clear up the confusion over the baby’s name, Paltrow later tweeted:
“Is it Ivy Blue or Blue Ivy? So confused. It’s Blue Ivy Carter!”
Congrat’s to the happy couple.
