I’m a big fan of movies with plot lines of coincidence; you know the kind where the audience is omnipresent over a cast of characters running and stumbling around all the while bumping into acquaintances of their mother or the ex of a current lover but never having the slightest clue they’re all connected by an invisible thread.
From the outside Hollywood looks huge but it’s really just a congested little suburb of Los Angeles where it seems like everyone knows everyone or at least all the ‘right’ people.
So I thought it would be fun—until I realized how much work it turned out to be, to imagine what Valentine’s Day: The Reality Show would be like. Remember this is all for fun. The people and connections are real but the story is all from my head.
So let’s set the scene for Valentine’s Day 2012.
Location: Mr. Chow’s—a famous dining hotspot of the who’s who, which also happened to open its first location in London on Valentine’s Day 1968.
The heavy wood door of Mr Chow’s creaks as it’s pushed open and in walks new bachelor’s Ashton Kutcher and Marc Anthony ready to grab a quick bite before heading out for a night on the town. Unexpectedly, Kutcher eyes his ex-wife Demi Moore with her new even younger boy toy; model Blake Corl-Baietti who seem to be ever so cozy in a corner booth… A small gasp comes from the Maitre d’ as the new host tries to seat the bachelors at a table less than 10 feet from the couple.
The host of Survivor, Jeff Probst and his brand new wife, Lisa Ann Russell stroll out the dinning room hand in hand ready to celebrate their first V-day as husband and wife as her ex-husband Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Saved by the Bell) and his fiance Catriona McGinn. Smiling cordially as the mortified Maitre d’ cuts between the somewhat awkward moment to save the stars embarrassment and his career. Probst waves when he see’s old friend Jenna Fisher (The Office) as she steps inside from the cold and rain. Probst officiated Fisher’s wedding which was near the time she made an appearance on That 70′s Show with Kutcher.
