I have a vintage button collection that has been passed down from my Great Grandmother and we have continued to add to it for years. There is something therapeutic about sorting buttons.
This past week my daughters and I decided to put each color in there own jar, so as we were sorting and cleaning the drawer out, I started removing buttons from the vintage cards that they originally were sold on. But as I went to throw the cards away… I couldn’t do it. They are really interesting, colorful and something from the past to be treasured. The creative wheels started turning and these note cards were created.
The actual cards are really basic, just card stock and a contrasting enhancement. On the button cards I decided what shape and how many buttons by what was originally offered. Use paper punches to create paper buttons and small hole punches to make them look like buttons. Then use foam tape or foam dots to make them raised, therefore completing the illusion. These five cards took very little time and are definitely fun to give to people as a set or just to write a little note of encouragement!
