While the weather promises to warm up, I still find that we are spending most of our time inside. Glancing at the sun-filled windows, wondering if it’s truly warm enough to go outside and play. For us, it still isn’t. Which means there are plenty of hours in the day to fill with fun children’s crafts, like this easy one for creating a telescope. It’s great for kids 2 years and older, and can be used to take older kids on a treasure hunt.
Supplies
- 3 empty toilet paper rolls or 1 empty paper towel roll
- Clear tape
- Stickers
- Paints
- Markers
- Crayons
- Glitter
Create
If using toilet paper rolls tape them together, end to end to create one long roll.
Let your kids decorate the telescope anyway they want. Stickers are the top pick in my house. Painting, coloring with markers or covering in glitter is another fun way to let your kids express their creativity.
Explore
Create a treasure hunt for older kids. Hide small toys around the house and help them explore, using their telescopes, to see what they can discover. If weather permits, hide toys or objects in the yard.
