Spring is a fabulous time to freshen up your front porch area. Without spending a lot, and using a little creativity, you can give your entry a welcoming new look!

- One of the obvious changes you can make is with paint – if your front door seems dull, a bright new color can be an amazing lift – check with your local home-improvement center for the right tools for your project.
Speaking of paint, a can or two of spraypaint can make even the plainest items look fabulous!
- Spraypaint the INSIDE of a mason jar and tie with ribbon, fabric or twine for an adorable flower vase.
- Wicker takes well to spraypaint as well – with recovered seat cushions, you could have a brand new furniture set for less than $20!
- Get a new look for your mailbox – paint it a bright new color, then find vinyl decals for your numbers or other decorations.
- You can even spraypaint your welcome mat – on a sisal mat, cut out a template in the design you want, tape down and paint the remaining area.
Plants are a great way to enhance the appearance of your porch as well – but you can also get crafty with the planters too!
- Use Mod-podge to attach fabric or paper to the outside of a planter.
- Set your pot on a large piece of fabric and tuck it up around the edges of the pot
- Spray paint your plant pots a new color (be sure to protect your plants!)
- Use coffee cans or other large cans as plant pots – cover with fabric, spraypaint and wrap with twine, or wrap the whole can with twine for a great look!
Other ways to dress up your porch
- Wall art – plaques, baskets, shelves…even a fun clock or thermometer
- Hanging baskets – nothing shouts spring like a basket of colorful blooms
- New house numbers – there are so many options now – plaques, decals, tiles
- Throw rugs – substitute for your welcome mat, or set in front of a bench or chair
There are so many fun ways to accessorize and decorate your front porch with just a little creativity!
