Our local art museum has this fantastic monthly gathering for kids ages 2-5. It’s full of crafts, snacks, books and all around fun activities for kids. We go every month and always come away with some beautiful artwork and some fun craft ideas to do at home.
So, I’m sharing the best of these craft projects with you over the next 4 weeks. I hope you will enjoy them as much as we did.
Kaleidoscope Painting
This is a great alternative to traditional painting and can be done with items you more than likely already have at home. Kids love it because they get to make a mess. Mom’s love it because that mess is contained!
Supplies
- Paint, 2-3 different colors
- 1 Small ball, such as a golf ball
- White paper
- Tin foil pan with sides (a cookie sheet with sides will work as well)
Create
Place the paper in the tin foil pan. Add a few spots of color, 2-3 colors work best. Any more and you could end up with brown, muddy artwork.
Place the golf ball on top, and move the tin foil pan back and forth in all directions, rolling the ball through the paint and over the paper.
Roll as much or as little as you want, until the child deems the artwork complete.
This is a great gift idea for grandparents.

This is a fabulous idea! My son turns 2 in September and is to the age where we wants to “do school” when the other kids do their school and craft stuff. This will be perfect!
What a cool idea! I love the messy, no-mess method!
I’m pretty sure I can dig up a few golf balls from my husband’s bag, since he no longer has time to use them.
Thanks!
Yup, that’s how most of my hubby’s golf balls are used now too.
I actually did this craft with my son before he was 2. They just need a little more help moving the ball around. I hope your son enjoys it!
