Revamp a Dresser with Fabric

I had an old chest of drawers that we decided to use in the kid’s room as a changing table and for diaper/clothes/toy storage. The problem… it looked awful! I found some awesome fabric and was able to create a great piece for their room without breaking the bank!

All you need…
- scissors
- screw driver
- and…

- Remove the front of each drawer from the chest of drawers and remove knobs from each drawer
- Cut fabric roughly the size of each drawer (this doesn’t have to be exact because you’ll cut the excess off later)
- Spray adhesive the top of the drawer (do this outside as the spray goes everywhere!)
- Lay the fabric on the drawer starting at one end and pressing out the bubbles as you work your way to the other end (once the fabric is down it can be hard to move so take your time to get it done right the first time)
- Flip the drawer over so the fabric is facing your counter-top and cut off the excess fabric using a razor blade
- Flip the drawer face up and cut a little “x” over the hole where the knob goes (this is easy to find by running your fingertips over the fabric in the knob area)
- Re-screw the knobs on the drawer and replace on the chest of drawers
- ADMIRE!
This is very easy to do and a great way to give new life to that cheap unique piece of furniture. I used the same fabric to make crib bumpers and cushions for our glider. It really tied the room together on a budget!!

This is a great idea! I think I’m going to try it out on a hand-me-down Ikea dresser!
Cool idea!
