This beautiful autumn wreath will look great hanging on your door or near your Thanksgiving table. What a shimmery way to light up any fall holiday you are celebrating!
-
MATERIALS:
* silk leaf garland (very inexpensive at discount stores)
* foam wreath circle/base (also inexpensive at discount stores)
* wide ribbon in earth tones (shop around and get good buys at craft stores)
* straight pins
* scissors
* any glue that dries clear
* 3 colors of glitter (gold, silver, dark green, copper, dark red work well)
-
DIRECTIONS:
Use 2 straight pins to pin the end of your wide ribbon to the back of your foam wreath base.- Tightly wrap the ribbon around and around the foam base until it is covered entirely.
- Cut off the ribbon and use 2 straight pins to pin the end of the ribbon into the base. Use other straight pins to anchor any other pieces of ribbon that are not flush against the foam base.
- Gently remove all the silk leaves from your garland.
- Use the clear-drying glue to add some lines and details to a leaf.
- Shake some glitter onto the gluey areas of the leaf and tap the excess off into a bowl.
- Use different colors of glitter on different leaves.
- Allow to dry.
- Use the straight pins (or a hot glue gun) to add the leaves to the wreath. Try to fill in as much of the space as you can.
If you want, you can add some pretty collage ephemera, such as feathers, acorns, shells, or even quotations printed or rubber stamped onto a contrasting color of card stock. The sky’s the limit here. Make this wreath your own!- To hang, thread a narrow piece of ribbon or twine through the loop on the back of your wreath from the wide ribbon.
