I enjoy dabbling in quite a few crafts, which means that I have a lot of supplies in my craft room. Not only does this mean that I often have what I need for a given craft, but I also have a stash of craft kit components for gift giving purposes.
Who Might Enjoy a Craft Kit?
I have made craft kits for anyone from children to adults. The bead kit pictured here was made for a 10 year old’s birthday party. It was a huge hit, and I only had to buy some $1.00 elastic cord to add to the kit.
When one of my sisters said many times that she wanted to start scrapbooking, I knew that a starter scrapbooking kit would be a perfect and well-loved gift.
Craft Kit Guidelines
1. Be sure to only put items in the craft kit that are new (or like new).
2. Include only things you truly think the receiver would enjoy. Don’t use it as solely a way to clean out your craft stash.
3. Make sure that your craft kit is well thought out. Someone who has told you several times that they wish they could start knitting but they just don’t know where to start would be a great candidate for a knitting craft kit. Someone who has been knitting for twenty years is probably not going to appreciate a start up kit in the same way the first person would.

Love all of these craft kit ideas. I’m a huge fan of kits, especially for kids.
Years ago when I taught a group of girlfriends to knit, I put together a kit for each of them including my own pattern, yarn, needles & sewing needles. They loved it.
I make up craft kits on a regular basis for kids, especially as gifts for my little ones pre-school friends. Last weekend I had my kids make their own scrapbooks. The kit included: mini scrapbook, stickers, stamps, crayons, glitter, glue and assorted chipboard cut-outs.
I’ve also put together baking kits for kids as birthday gifts – apron, chef hat, cookbook, little wooden spoon, whisk, measuring cups and spoons inside a bowl, all wrapped up.
Last Christmas I made craft kits with a cut-out snowman, glitter, googly eyes, felt scarf/nose/hat, pom poms and an ornament holder so the kids could make their own ornaments for their tree.
Great kit ideas, Tonya! Thanks for sharing what you have been doing.
