Writing Color Poems

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
We love to read poems and write them, too. Color poems are fun and easy – with Leprechauns and shamrocks on our minds, we found our Green Poems that we wrote last year. Grab a piece of paper, some green coloring tools, and your favorite little poet and join us!

I like to start with a simple frame for our poem — we chose to simply start each line with the word green. You could also try I like green ________ or As green as a _________ to create your poem.
For young children, take down the poem as they dictate to you. Older children could, of course, do their own writing.
Illustrate with a selection of green crayons, pencils, markers, paint, etc. Have fun!
Now, back to our leprechaun traps…Hope you have a lucky day!
