Disco Night? I must really love this show to sit through this. Why Idol producers why?
Lil’ Rounds (I’m Every Woman): Finally a song that should make the judges happy. Let me just say first, I think she looks great. Now the bad news. I thought the song was a little out of her league. Although her stage performance was excellent she just didn’t have control. This poor girl gets told the same thing every week by the judges and just can’t seem to define herself. I feel her trying so hard! I agree with Simon, I think she is going home this week
Kris Allen (She Works Hard For The Money): Very, very bizarre song choice. So you know he has to mix it up. And I loved it. Loved it!! This guy has been the biggest surprise of the season and could be the upset to take it all. Such a cool performance. Judges unanimously loved him and praised his risk taking and originality.
Danny Gokey (September): Man this is a great song isn’t it? And he doesn’t disappoint with his performance of it. Totally Danny. Great vocals, entertaining stage presence, powerful range. Again, the judges universally loved him. Paula told him he had one of the sexiest voices ever. This guy ain’t going nowhere.
Alison Iraheta (Hot Stuff): I am not sure head to toe spandex leather is a good look for anyone. Just sayin’. I like how she mixed up this song a bit. Which is frankly the only way to do this song cause no one should try to do a Donna Summer song without making it original. She was one a kind. Really cool vibe to that song. I think she nailed it. The judges didn’t like the arrangement (whatever), but they praised her vocal. Simon even went so far as to call it brilliant.
Adam Lambert (If I Can’t Have You): In true Adam style, he totally changed up the song and made it a slow ballad. And it was pretty cool. I didn’t like the screechy part in the middle, but otherwise, it was really amazing. Very mellow and tender. The judges were blown away by him, his originality and his vocals. Great performance.
Matt Giraud (Stayin’ Alive): Good song to show off his falsetto and range, but I worry the judges are going to say it isn’t original after some of what we have heard tonight. But I enjoyed it and thought is showed what he can do. I just don’t know if he can compete with the big guys in this competition. The judges all seemed to like him except for Simon who said it sounded desperate. I disagree with that, but worry he might be in trouble.
Anoop Desai (Dim The Lights): I don’t know this song. He started with a ballad, but then brought it up tempo a little bit. The arrangement seems a little lame to me and just didn’t stand up to the others tonight in my opinion. Vocally it was also a little rough at times, but not awful. The judges were very split. Kara and Paula seemed to like it, Randy and Simon didn’t seem to like it. Simon was really hard on him. I think he might be going home this week.
My bet is on Anoop and Lil’ Rounds. Maybe Matt (I hope not). What do you think?
