On Friday, February 13th the Stars aligned on a catwalk in New York to help kick off Fashion Week and to raise awareness that heart disease is the number one killer of women.
The Heart Truth’s Red Dress Collection Fashion Show blends entertainment with fashion as celebrity models strut, stroll, and even dance down the catwalk each wearing a red dress created by a different designer. Here are just a few that made me forget my toes were numb from standing in line for hours on Friday:
Amanda Bynes started off the show in a Daniel Swarovski dress that was very short on the legs, but beautiful. Maybe it’s her tender age, or the 8-inch heels, but she looked nervous and I swear I thought I caught her mumbling a little prayer -probably that she not pull a Carrie Bradshaw and trip.
Jennie Garth made me swoon in a Badgley Mischka that was flowing and lovely. Plus, red really is Jennie’s color.
Keeping with the 90210, Tori Spelling came out t in a flirty Betsy Johnson dress. Tori may not have received the biggest applause, and I’m wondering if that’s because most of the people missed seeing her at first. You see from the side, she nearly disappeared.
My girl, Vivica A. Fox owned the stage, the Jenny Packham dress, the photogs, and just about every man within a 5 mile radius with her swagger and the don’t-mess-with-me-girl-power look she had on her face.
A big surprise for me was Lynda Carter in one of my favorite designers, Carolina Herrera. This was a marriage made in Heaven.
Kristi Yamaguchi came out in Vera Wang and not surprisingly was a crowd favorite. Those skaters just live in our hearts.
Samantha Harris was stunning in a David Meister dress and had that hip-sway down perfect which only showed the dress off that much more.
Cicely Tyson was one of those who danced (was it a polka?) down the runway in a B. Michael dress with sleeves that gave new meaning to the term puff, as in Power Puff Girls.
And then, a gasp! Is it really her? Susan Lucci!!! The Queen of Daytime came floating by in a Gustavo Cadile dress. Her hair was teased to new heights but that smile just never changes.
I have to mention Hillary Duff in Donna Karan. She looked great, the dress was beautiful, blah, blah…I sort of hate her.
And last but certainly not least was Today Show icon, Katie Couric in a Carmen Marc Valvo. Oh Katie. You looked uncomfortable out there but the dress looked like it was having the time of it’s life!

WOW, Janine…. you got to go see this in person? Yes, I am jealous. Great wrap-up of it though. I bet it was fabulous to see all those stars in their gorgeous gowns.
