It’s the time of year when Irish eyes are smiling and everyone is a wee bit Irish. What better way to enjoy the Irish culture then through music? Ireland has provided many great artists and bands through the years such as U2, The Cranberries, Sinead O’Connor, Hothouse Flowers and Van Morrison. The up and coming band, Enter The Haggis, can easily be added to that list of great artists.
Enter The Haggis formed in Toronto and released their first album, Casualties of Retail, in 2004. They released their seventh album, Gutter Anthems, a year ago and already have a serious following of ‘Haggis Heads‘. The band’s music has deep Celtic roots laced with bagpipes, fiddles and toe stomping beats.
My favorite album is Soapbox Heroes which was released in 2007. Soapbox Heroes has a classic sound that incorporates, rock, folk, bluegrass and Celtic vibes. Highlights include: Lancaster Gate – an irish to the core song that will have you doing the jig in no time, Long Way Home - the soulful bagpipes and melody will have you wishing you were back in the homeland and One Last Drink - the song that will get any party started.
Enter The Haggis is also a huge touring band. Be sure to check out their tour dates. Their shows are a definite must see!
