The star of the Dark Knight had been a favorite to win the Golden Globe and is a good bet for the Oscar. Heath Ledger was honored Sunday night posthumously with the award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture. Ledger beat out some major names such as Tom Cruise, Robert Downey Jr., Ralph Fiennes and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan accepted the award. “On behalf of all of us who worked with Heath on Dark Knight, I accept this with mix of sadness and incredible pride,” said Nolan. “He will be eternally missed but he will never be forgotten.”
