Fans of the Twilight novels written by Stephenie Meyer will be happy to know that it has been announced that Taylor Lautner will reprise his role as Jacob Black in the movie New Moon, the follow up to Twilight, according to The Hollywood Reporter and an announcement on StephenieMeyer.com, issued January 7th, 2009.
Twihards (those emotionally involved with the series or who have seen the movie Twilight more than once, not that I would know anything about that…ahem) were vocal in their opposition of the possibility of Taylor Lautner being replaced with a more physically mature actor. It was rumored that actor Michael Capon was being considered.
Not to spoil anything for those who have not had a chance to read the Twilight series, the Jacob Black character matures physically, rather quickly, in New Moon. There was speculation that the sixteen year old Taylor Lautner would not be able to pull this off convincingly. Twilight purists and those on Team Jacob are pleased as punch by the decision to keep Taylor Lautner in the series.
If you don’t know what “Team Jacob” is, then you’ll have to read the books yourself to decide if you’re either “Team Jacob” or “Team Edward”. For the record: I’m on Team Edward…hhhaaaave mercy!
