Yes, cable can be expensive and there aren’t many ways around it either. But, can we just put that aside for one minute?
If you already have cable, adding a dvr can save you money in the long run. Seriously.
Being a full-time mom, wife, homemaker extraordinaire (ha!), I do not have much “free time”, “me time”, “sane time” in a day. The couple of hours a night I might have for myself and/or my husband is so precious. So, when I do actually sit down and turn the tv on, I want to watch quality programming.
But sometimes even that quality time is interrupted by outside influences, like those kids!, or that major important call that can’t wait, or that potty break you just want to take by yourself for once! Never again will one spread of digital bliss be missed in my abode.
And that is not all. There’s pay-per-view movies that can be purchased for a decent price or movie channel series available ANYTIME YOU WANT. (Including all the deleted scenes you forgot ever existed!)
I feel like Miranda on Sex & the City and her love for her Tivo. I feel the love. I truly do. Only in my instance, I pay only $10 a month and I can give it back whenever I’m done with it. But, we all know, or at least I know that will never happen in my house. Not on my watch….
Anyone else a dvr lover like moi?

I love my DVR! We once looked into Tivo but quickly discovered that a) the initial outlay for the equipment is pricey, and b) there is still a monthly fee for the usage. So not only would we not save any money, but if something goes wrong with the equipment, it’s my problem. I love that if something happens to the DVR, I just call up the cable company and switch it out or whatever.
I big pink puffy heart my DVR. I don’t know how I lived without it.
I would marry my TIVO if I wasn’t already married. I’d never go back to watching TV without it.
I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t watch my “Big Brother” and “Project Runway” shows.
Oh I LOVE ours. We got ours through our satellite company and love it. I can remember when we would program our vcr to record something and we’d watch another channel and now we can do that again. And, of course, our ‘must watch’ shows are on at the same time (NCIS and Eureka!). And if there is something that I do not want my youngest to watch, we can record it for later….conversely, I can record a series of shows for her to watch so she’s not watching the ‘touchy feely’ stuff…Boomerang is great.
