We’re down to the final four this episode, and find Jason heading to the homes of Jillian, Molly, Naomi, and Melissa to meet their parents!
Heading to Canada first, Jason meets up with Jillian, calling her affectionately “Jill” now. Jillian shares her strong history in the town where her grandparents lived and where her parents now live, including a part about touching a Loch Ness monster of sorts in the lake. Jason has seemed taken by her humorous nature, confidence, and love for life from the very beginning. But, I feel there was one thing he thought was missing. Quelling Jason’s fear that Jillian is a hard shell to crack, she opens up about her mother’s battle with depression, explaining it’s what made her the person she is today.
When they get to Jill’s, her parents are just as sweet as can be. Her father welcomes the couple with open arms-arms full of Canadian flags that he proceeds to wrap Jason in! During dinner, Jill’s mom recites a touching poem for her daughter, and continues to speak highly of her when she’s one-on-one with Jason. When it’s Dad’s turn to have a moment with Jason, he tears up talking about wanting the best for his daughter. Granny shows up with a pair of boxers for Jason and leaves him with a peck on the lips! From what I’ve seen here, the show can end right here with a proposal!
Leaving Canada, Jason heads to Michigan to see Molly. Molly is decked out in her knickers awaiting Jason in her golf cart at the country club. All of this seems so, um…not right. Just not the fit I see for Jason and Ty. But, Molly is cute, I’ll give her that.
Jason meets Molly’s parents who we learn hated her ex-boyfriend. Molly’s dad is quiet and observant, and I think this has Jason shaking in his golf shoes. To break the obvious tension, Molly’s mom comes into the room with items from the hat box. It’s such a random move that you can’t do anything but laugh and go along with it. Later, Molly’s mom takes Jason aside and asks him to draw a picture of Molly. Just of her face, but at a moment that was most special to you. Um. What?! Jason plays along accentuating his favorite part of her face-her Jokeresque mouth (remember he did say she was the best kisser), all the while Mrs. Molly is looking over his shoulder. Can we say AWKWARD?! In the other room, Molly and her dad have a moment where Daddy Golfbucks calls his daughter a “winner” and reminds her if she gets dumped not to cry. Competitive much?
Let’s just say, the next visit any more normal. Jason is in Southern California with Naomi next. We learned last episode that her parents are divorced, but we see them together at her mom’s home, mingling with a sister, half-sister, nephew, and well….a dove. Naomi’s mother is quite a woman. She tells the story of a bird committing suicide on her car, all the while scooping the poor animal up and bagging it to bring it home. Taking it from the fridge, she asks Jason if he would be willing to oversee the bird’s funeral and say a eulogy for it. This combined with the hula-hooping (“be one with the hoop”), would have me saying to poor Jason, “oh no, I really think I’m at the wrong house.”
Jason gets a feel for Naomi’s dad as their one-on-one chat is religious based. I couldn’t really focus on what the dad was saying because I was distracted by the slot machines in the background as well as the public restroom door. I think Jason was scared. Even more so when Naomi’s mom spoke of reincarnation, that she “knows” Jason from another life, and that Jason was once a mother. ??!! *insert cuckoo clock here*
*Note to cameraman* Dude, pan out on the kissing. Or get a tongue-cam. Yeesh!
Finally, Melissa’s hometown date in Texas. We were teased last week and all episode about how her parents were not willing to meet Jason in this setting. Melissa’s dad felt that this was a time to be cherished in reality and that the “public-ness” of the show was uncomfortable. While I can respect this, I would have hoped that they could have met Jason without the cameras at least, but to no avail. We meet Melissa’s friends, who also mention they know little about her parents and family, raising concerns on just how disconnected Melissa is from her folks.
In the end, the final 3 women that will go on fantasy dates with Jason in New Zealand are Melissa, Molly, and Jillian. Naomi showed maturity talking with Jason as he walked her out, but did end up breaking down on the limo-ride-of-shame.
Stay tuned, the big DeAnna reveal next week!

I wish someone had been there to get pictures of his face during the bird funeral. I can’t imagine something like that would help her chances of staying on the show- though I don’t think her family is responsible for her leaving.
I wanted to love Molly cuz she is from my neck of the woods (West Michigan, WHOOO!). But I don’t love her. I think she’s very young-ish – and I just can’t see her winning this.
I haven’t watched this year but count me in for Jillian. The others just sound too weird.
Stopped over from SITS where I have actually seen your smiling face on the comment page!
